For the first time this season HK Beograd visited the Tüskecsarnok to take on MAC Budapest. After a slow start in the first period MAC Budapest found their legs as they put seven past the Beograd goalie.
MAC was caught flat footed in the opening minutes of the game as Hugo Turcotte gave the visitors the early lead. MAC broke through late in the first period as Jeff Jubenville banged home a bouncing puck.
The second period was more of what MAC fans have become accustomed to as the home team ran off four unanswered goals, with the first one coming eight seconds into the second period. Krisztián Nagy set up Jubenville for his second goal of the game with a nice pass from the right faceoff circle, Jubenville only had to redirect the pass. Minutes later Nagy scored his first of the game with Winston Day Chief for the first time in the game and Jubenville for the third time, would all score to set the score at 5-1 after forty minutes of hockey.
The final period was a mere formality as the two teams exchanged goals, Vukicevic scored one for Beograd and Áron Könczei added on a seventh MAC goal in the final minute of the game. Jeff Jubinville finished the night with three goals and two assists with the league’s leading scorer Krisztián Nagy capping it off with a goal and four assists.
Jeff Jubinville: They were playing really well, Krisztián and Winstone were passing really well, the puck found my stick three times and really just got lucky. The last few games we have been playing really well, we have been trying to keep it simple. Krisztián has been opening up a lot of room in the middle which give Winston and myself chances.
