MAC Wins first Hungarian Cup in team history

MAC played on both Saturday and Sunday nights this past match weekend in the Tüskecsarnok. The game against Galati was rather strange with Sunday night being a rivalry game against UTE.

MAC-Galati 15-2

Gergely Arany started in net for MAC, Dezső Roczanov was back in the lineup with Arnold Silló getting the night off. Sean Escobedo started the scoring off by he flipped the puck home from the doorstep of the crease. Galati even the game up at 1-1 minutes later. Erik Keresztury gave MAC back the lead with Áron Könczei opening up a two score lead. Ryan Ruikka scored from the right faceoff dot to make it 5-1, seconds later it was 6-1 when Gergő Nagy found the back of the net. Keresztury scored the eight MAC goal before the period was out. After the first period Galati switch goalies, the move looked to pay off as they made it 8-2 in the early part of the period with first MAC goal of the second period not being scored until their was less than two minutes left in the period when Bence Bödök put home his own rebound. Dezső Roczanov made it 9-2, with Balázs Somogyi scoring on the power play to make it 10-2. Roland Vokla scored from just inside the blue line. With MAC up 11-2, Galati was forced to switch back to their original starting goalie as the second one had to leave the game with a concussion. MAC managed to score four goals in the remaining eight minutes of the game as Somogyi and Könczei scored their second goals of the night. Krisztián Nagy scored off of a pass from Gergő Nagy to make it 14-2 with then Gergő scoring the 15th MAC goal.

MAC-UTE 4-0

Bence Bálizs was back in the net for the rivalry game against Újpest. The game started off with Csaba Kovács scoring off of a backdoor pass from Áron Könczei to put MAC up 1-0. Minutes later MAC was up 2-0 this time it was Bence Bödök finding the back of the net.The score remained the same until late in the second period when Balázs Somogyi banged in a rebound for the power play goal. Before the period was over Sean Escobedo set a rocket to the back of the net from just inside the blue line. The team defended well throughout the rest of the game as Bálizs picked up the shutout win.
