MAC Budapest had a week that was filled with adventure as well as ups and downs. MAC picked up an important win in the Hungarian Cup, they also split their two ERSTE Liga games. The Hungarian national team was announced for the November international break, there are 8 players on the roster with 2 members on the staff as well.
MAC-Fehérvár 3-0 (Hungarian Cup)
Gergely Arany got the start in net for the Cup game. The opening goal was scored in the opening minutes of the game when Bronson Kovács ripped an absolute rocket past the Fehérvár goalie to make it 1-0. Minutes later MAC doubled the lead on a great shorthanded goal by Erik Keresztury. Just at the midway point of the game Tamás Pozsgai had blast from the right faceoff circle. The MAC defence stood tall as the team kept Fehérvár off the scoresheet for the rest of the second and all of the third period. MAC is tied for first place in the group stage of the Cup.
Bence Bálizs was back in between the pipes for MAC as they traveled south on the Danube to Dunaújváros. The high scoring first period started with Tomas Klempa scoring twice within a minute to go up 2-0. Klempa completed his natural hat trick before the midway point of the opening period. Later in the period Keegan Dansereau and Krisztián Nagy scored within a minute of each other to go up 5-0 in the 11th minute of the game. The opening period closed with MAC leading 5-1. Balázs Somogyi scored the only goal of the second period as MAC was up 6-1 after 40 minutes of hockey. Dunaújváros scored twice in the third period but by than the game was in the bag by then.
In the last game of the match week MAC played the Budapest rival Ferencváros. Jared Brown scored the only goal of the first period to give MAC a 1-0 lead. Fradi tied the game up on a power play goal, but less than a minute later MAC was back on top with a Klempa goal. Keegan Dansereau gave MAC a two goal lead, Fradi scored twice late in the period as the two teams were tied up at 3-3 after two period of hockey. Ferencváros scored a goal early in the third period to take a one goal lead. They would hold on to the win despite Gergely Majoross pulling Bence Bálizs for the extra attacker.
The Hungarian roster for the international break was announced with 8 MAC players making the roster. Goalie Bence Bálizs, defenseman Jesse Dudás, Zsombor Garát, Bronson Kovács and Tamás Pozsgai were called into the team along with forwards Keegan Dansereau, Krisztián Nagy and István Terbócs representing Hungary. Gergely Majoross will be on the coaching staff with Gábor Tornyi on the support staff as well.
