MAC Budapest has filled up their final import roster spot when they signed Vladimir Nikiforov just before the closing of the transfer window. With the signing of Nikiforov MAC has six import players.
“I got a message from Gergő Nagy, that Budapest and MAC is a great place to be, I knew i was going to be leaving Alaska, he said this a great place to play.” said Nikiforov in the Tüskecsarnok this afternoon.
Nikiforov was born in the USSR, in modern Lithuania but he plays with an American player license. Vladimir his quick and speedy right winger who should give MAC a boost in scoring, he has been know as playmaker where he has played.
“I have always been a playmaker more of a passer who creates scoring chances, I can also hit and great chances. They want me to be fast, create and score on chances.”
Nikiforov spent his junior years playing in the OHL with the Barrie Colts and the Sarnia Sting where he was a prolific scorer. After the OHL he spent the next four seasons in North American minor leagues, playing in the ECHL, CHL and the FHL.
Europe is not completely new to him as he has played in the VHL, Poland, the German third division and the league in England as well.
There are some familiar face in the locker room for him as he had played with Jon Booras in Bloomington and Gergő Nagy in Quad City of the CHL.
