MAC Budapest entered the MOL League for the first time during the 2015-16 campaign, the inaugural season was considered a success as the team made it to the finals under the leadership of Head Coach Gergely Majoross. MAC lost in a four game sweep to defending champions DVTK Jegesmedvék. Finishing the season as the league's leading scorer was Ian McDonald who also set the single season MOL League scoring record.

Gergely Majoross was on the coaching staff Hungarian national team at the A-Pool World Championships where he was joined by his Goalie Coach Gary Clark and team captain Viktor Tokaji who were all on the coaching staff. Making the roster were three MAC players, István Mestyán and Bence Stipsicz were on the blueline with Kristián Nagy supporting the attack.

MAC Budapest not only hopped to repeat their success from last season but take the next step in the development of the club as clearly the goal for the 2016-17 season is a MOL League title.

To get a clear picture of MAC hockey and the MAC Hockey Academy you have to go back to 1963 when the Központi Sportiska (Central Sports School) added hockey to the sports that they worked with. This would later become Liget SE and eventually Népstadion Szabadidő Egyesület. In 1993 NSZE merged with Magyar Atheltikai Club, which had been resurrected in 1988 to form the hockey club MAC Népstadion. After the youth system had produced national team players such as Balázs Sebők and krisztián Nagy with more and more players moving on to play professional hockey, it was time to have a senior team to where these graduating players can move on to.

With the team only in the second year in the MOL League MAC hockey actually has a rich tradition as a number of current MOL League and Hungarian national players played in the MAC colors in the 1980s, 1990s 2000s and today.

The current home of MAC Budapest is the recently renovated Tüskecsarnok that sits just off the Danube bank on the Buda side of the Hungarian capital. MAC joins Ferencvárosi TC and UTE as the third professional hockey team in the city. With the addition of MAC to the city rivalry the hockey fans of Budapest always have a game to go between the three teams.
