MAC Budapest had a long match week this past week as they played four matches, two of the in Transylvania. The team picked up three wins and only lost once, however that was to league leader DVTK. Richárd Kedves and Árpád Lőczi made their ERSTE Liga debuts during this stretch as well.
In the opening game of their Transylvanian road trip MAC took on Brasov. Head coach Gergely Majoross gave Bence Bálizs the start in net. Lőczi and Kedves made their ERSTE Liga debuts as well. Jared Brown opened up the scoring for MAC in the opening minutes of the game as MAC went up 1-0. The score did not change through the rest of the opening period and all of the second period. It was not until deep into the third that the score changed when Keegan Dansereau doubled the lead to go up 2-0. With just over 5 minutes left in the game Brasov scored to end the shutout that Bálizs had going.
Gergely Majoross stuck with Bálizs in net for the second leg of the Transylvanian road trip. Csíkszereda took the first lead of the game after scoring a power play goal late in the first period of the game. MAC flipped the score in the second period when Jared Brown and Chris Bodó scored 67 second apart of make it 2-1 for MAC, both goals were equal strength. A Brance Orbán goal put MAC up by two goals however seconds later Csíkszereda found the back of the net to make it a one goal game. The two teams exchanged scores later in the period as Bodó scored his second goal of the game to make it 4-2, but Csíkszereda answered back once again to make it a one goal game. This time the score stayed 4-3 until the end.
The coaching staff decided to stay with the hot hand in net as Bálizs was the starting goalie. After a scoreless opening period DVTK took the lead late in the second period when DVTK found the back of the net in the 36th minute to go up 1-0. The score remained the same until the 47th minute when DVTK scored a power play goal to go up 2-0. In the closing minutes MAC pulled Bálizs for the extra attacker however they were unable to tie the game up as MAC fell to DVTK 2-0.
Gergely Majoross decided to rest Bálizs and give Gergely Arany the start in net. MAC scored twice within half a minute as Jared Brown and Keegan Dansereau both found the back of the net to put MAC up 2-0. In the final minute of the first period Chris Bodó scored to make it 3-0. Both Brance Orbán and Tomas Klempa scored, ten minutes apart as MAC opened up a 5-0 lead through 2 periods of hockey. The only goal scored in the final period of play came from the Vienna Capitals as they ended the shutout that Arany had going.
