MAC Budapest opened the 2017-18 season in the renamed ERSTE Liga on the road. The two games in Fehér County were a success as they are 2-0 after the first two games of the season.
In the season opening game they travelled south along the Danube to Fejér county where Dunaújváros hosted them. Head coach Gergely Majoross gave Bence Bálizs the season opening start. Jarmo Jokila scored the opening goal of the season in the opening minutes of the game, however not much later as Tamás Pozsgai was serving a boarding penalty when Dunaújváros tied the game up. Less than a minute later MAC was back on top when István Terbócs found the back of the net. In the second period MAC opened up a two goal lead when young defenseman Zsombor Garát put the puck behind the Dunaújváros goalie, minutes later MAC was up 4-1 when Jared Brown scored. In the closing minutes of the period Dunaújváros got one goal back as the teams went into the second intermission only separated by two goals. Dunaújváros kept their momentum going from the end of the second into the third as they scored early in the period to make it a one goal game. In the closing minutes of the game Dunaújváros pulled the goalie for the extra attacker, but Krisztián Nagy scored an empty net goal to set the final at 5-3.
For the second game of the season MAC traveled to Fehérvár where they took on the Titánok. Gergely Arany was given his first of the season as Bence Bálizs had the night off. The game was all tied up at 0-0 until the 15th minute of the game when Wes Cunningham broke the tie. Bronson Kovács scored his first goal of the season on the power play to double the MAC lead in the opening minutes of the second period. Fehérvár answered back not much later to make it a one goal game. Fehérvár tied the game up at 2-2 when both Cunningham and Kovács were in the penalty box. The third period ended up being an exciting one as the two teams opened the third period all tied, however this did not last long as Brance Orbán put MAC up by a goal less than two minutes into the period. MAC opened up a two score lead thanks to a short handed goal by Krisztián Nagy. The 4-2 scored would not change for the rest of the game.
